Personal comments
The trail is short with a total distance of 4.8km out and back. However it actually is a steep hike to the Stavrovouni mountain peak with a significant elevation gain of 280 meters in just 2.4 km. In some sections the trail is very steep and rocky terrain. Additionally, nearly at the end of the trail you will come across some “wooden” steps. Mind that those steps may be very slippery due to weather (rain or humidity), hence it would be better to avoid stepping on them.
This trail serves as an excellent training ground, offering a good workout for those looking to build stamina and strength. However, due to the demanding nature of the terrain, a good hiking shoe/boots are recommended to ensure stability and safety throughout the trek.
The hike provides continuous scenic rewards; when not focused on the challenging terrain underfoot, hikers are treated to beautiful vistas along the entire ascent. Reaching the peak of Stavrovouni is the ultimate payoff, offering flawless, uninterrupted panoramic views that stretch across the horizon and are guaranteed to take your breath away.
For hikers looking to extend their adventure, this route can be seamlessly combined with the Stavrovouni Loop to create a comprehensive 10 kilometer trek. This combined trail offers a significant physical challenge, accumulating a total elevation gain of 624 meters, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a more rigorous endurance test paired with even more expansive views of the region.
